Joe Smith art & code
About Joe
Mr. Smith has been creating communication images and brands for over 30 years. Originally trained in the traditional graphic arts field he has adapted his skills toward digital tools as they became available. The desktop publishing era came into its own along with Joe’s acumen for design and creative use of print technology. Designing and providing art direction for collateral materials, product brochures, direct mail, packaging, environmental graphics and media advertisements by 1995 Joe began to venture into the field of new media. There he designed Web sites for retail, corporate and professional organizations that exploited the use of the new medium’s visual strengths.
Very quickly he discovered the limits of a dynamic medium done with static information and in 1998 Joe began experimenting with middleware development tools to alleviate the need for time consuming, manual updates. The powerful combination of server-side-scripting (PHP) and industrial strength information data structures (SQL) provided Mr. Smith with tools that would lead to powerful content management tools, site building technologies, dynamic user interfaces, flexible product catalogs and a fully adaptable and customizable shopping cart. These technologies combined with Mr. Smith’s visual creativity make for a unique combination of attractive Web sites with functional punch.
